Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle sits 25 km from central Paris. Depending on the hour and the terminal, the trip ranges from 35 minutes to well over ninety. Here is how to choose without surprises.
Real journey time by hour of arrival
The usual route takes the A1 then Porte de la Chapelle, or the A3 when the A1 clogs up. Times we observe daily towards the 1st–8th arrondissements:
- 05:00 – 07:00: 35 to 45 minutes, the best window
- 07:00 – 10:00: 60 to 90 minutes, inbound rush
- 10:00 – 16:00: 45 to 60 minutes
- 16:00 – 20:00: 55 to 85 minutes
- After 21:00: 35 to 45 minutes
The options, compared honestly
The RER B links CDG to Gare du Nord in 30 to 50 minutes for about €12. It is the fastest at rush hour, but you carry your own bags, change lines and finish by metro or taxi.
Paris taxis charge a fixed airport fare (about €56 right bank, €65 left bank). Reliable, but the rank queue can exceed 30 minutes after a long-haul flight, and pickup is outside, not in the arrivals hall.
Standard ride-hailing apps use surge pricing: the same trip can double on a Sunday evening or during a strike.
A private transfer booked in advance locks the price, tracks the flight and includes a name-board greeting inside the arrivals hall.
CDG terminals: where do we meet?
CDG has three terminals and around ten halls. The meeting point makes all the difference to how fast you get out.
- Terminal 1: arrivals level, gates 30 to 34
- Terminal 2A / 2C / 2D: baggage exit, name board
- Terminal 2E / 2F: main arrivals hall, after customs
- Terminal 3: single exit, meet at the information desk
Luggage, child seats, groups
A sedan takes 3 passengers with 2 large suitcases. Beyond that the van is the only comfortable option: 7 passengers, 6 to 7 large cases, stroller laid flat.
Child seats and boosters are provided at no extra cost — just mention them when booking.
