Charles de Gaulle is the largest airport in continental Europe and, on a first visit, genuinely confusing: three terminal complexes spread over several kilometres, with Terminal 2 split into seven sub-terminals. Knowing where you land — and where your driver waits — turns a stressful arrival into a two-minute walk to the car.
How CDG is organised
Terminal 1 is the circular concrete building serving mostly international and non-Schengen airlines. Terminal 3 sits opposite, smaller, used mainly by charter and low-cost leisure carriers.
Terminal 2 is the long spine of seven sub-terminals — 2A through 2G — connected by walkways and the free CDGVAL shuttle train. Most SkyTeam and long-haul traffic is here: Air France uses 2E and 2F, for example, while many partner airlines use 2A–2D. Terminal 2G is a satellite reached by shuttle bus from 2F.
Finding your terminal before you fly
Your terminal is on your booking confirmation and boarding pass; if in doubt, check the airline's page on the Paris Aéroport site the day before. Terminal assignments occasionally change, so a same-day check is worthwhile.

Where you meet your driver
After baggage reclaim you exit into the public arrivals hall through a single gate per terminal. Your chauffeur waits just outside that gate, at the arrivals level, holding a name board with your name — no phone call needed, no searching for a car park.
Because the flight number is tracked, the driver is in position when you walk out even if you land early or late. You then have 60 minutes of free waiting from the actual landing time, which comfortably covers passport control and luggage.
Moving between terminals
Landside, the free CDGVAL automatic train links Terminal 1, Terminal 3, the parking stations and Terminal 2 in a few minutes, running every few minutes around the clock. Walking between adjacent Terminal 2 buildings is possible via covered walkways.
Airside connections for transit passengers follow the yellow 'correspondance' signs and stay behind security — you never enter the public area on a same-ticket connection.
Practical arrival tips
Free airport Wi-Fi covers all terminals — connect as you walk to arrivals so your driver's confirmation message reaches you.
If your luggage is lost, report it at the airline desk in the baggage hall before exiting, then come out — the driver's waiting time is running and a quick WhatsApp to us keeps everything coordinated.
